The folks at Southern Star aren’t allowed to say where you’ll find their Buried Hatchet Stout (damn you, worthless politicians!), but the Texas state legislature can’t muzzle me. They’re canning right this minute and the first shipment should leave the brewery later today. To get yours, try the downtown Spec’s tomorrow (Dec. 24), with other Spec’s locations to fall in line shortly after Christmas. See their oh-so cryptic announcement here.

Still looking for something to get that homebrewer of yours for Christmas? Well, pop on over to the KGB store and buy up a bunch of genuine KGB products. You’ll be making your homebrewer very happy and you’ll be supporting the KGB as well since we get a tiny taste of all the proceeds. You don’t even have to wait for the officers to get off their asses and put together a bulk order. Just click your mouse a few times and stuff is on its way to your house. What could be simpler? Don’t make come Santa late this year, comrades. Order your genuine KGB stuff, today!

Okay, comrades, you should’ve received an email from the web site by now (well, I just finished, so it might be a little before you get it) telling you your username and the random password you’ll need to log in. Feel free to change your password to something you’ll have an easier time remembering. I know I would. To change your password, click on your username which is up there just under the search box and just left of the Logout link. On the next page, click on the Manage Password link and follow the directions. You’re all set! Feel free to have a look around. Oh, please check to see if I made any mistakes in transcribing your personal information. Check your address, phone number, etc. by clicking on your username (yes, again!), then the Manage Profile link on the next page. One more thing you can check. If your KGB dues are current, you should be able to see a Members page under the Club menu. If you don’t see that, the web site (at least) thinks you’re not paid up on your dues. Drop me a note if you disagree with the state of things and I’ll see what I can find out. I’m sure you know how to get in touch with me if you have any questions. If you can’t reach me via email (and who knows when the officer emails will work, really?), just leave a post in the general section of the forum.

Have you noticed that new KGB icon? Grab the icon to the left of this page’s web address and drop it on your desktop. Ain’t that some goodness?

It’s true, comrades. One of the features of the new site that you can use to save time is to subscribe to the various blogs (this thing here that you’re reading), forums and events calendar. Just click that RSS subscribe button over there by my name (and any of the other officers’ names after they create their blogs, too). It works the same way for each forum and the events, just click the button that looks similar to the one circled in that picture on the right. If you don’t currently use anything like this to read “feeds,” I suggest you just go on over to Google and set yourself up with their Reader. It’s free and easy to use.

Well, the redirecting has started, so if you point your browser to TheKGB.org, you’ll find your way here. If you have links or Favorites that point to specific pages on the old site, you might get the Page Not Found error. You’ll have to update your links, if that’s the case.
Within the next couple of days, I hope to get the old domain up and running with the new site, but I’m not going to hold my breath, and neither should you. The last phone call I had with the support tech at GoDaddy.com had me scratching my head, and I thought I understood this stuff. But hey, she spoke English very clearly and was very patient with me, so kudos to GoDaddy for that!

You’ve found your way to the new KGB web site. The old one is still out there, but it shouldn’t be long until pointing your browser at www.TheKGB.org will bring you here. Until then, you can always come directly here by browsing to www.TheNewKGB.info. Most of the information has made its way over here from the old place. The most notable exceptions being the old forum messages and the label competition results from days gone by. The forum messages are gone for good, so make your way to the new forum and start filling up the database with new drivel. The label stuff will find its way up here in the near future. During this transition, please email me directly if you have any questions or comments about the new site (or anything else that catches your fancy). I don’t expect the various emails to theKGB.org to work reliably. I apologize for this inconvenience. In the mean time, explore the new place. I shuffled the location of a few things, but it’s very similar to the old site. MOP Mark

Well, comrades, despite everybody dropping the ball on this month’s newsletter, the final production isn’t really all that late. Not only that, it actually looks like a KGB newsletter, so I’m not upset about it. Download your copy of it, today!
