Wes,

I agree, the KGB turnout was laughable. FOUR TOTAL MEMBERS? C'mon, people, even The Austin Zealots had at least 10 members representing.

Oh, and thanks for pointing out that Donald won, too. I should've looked over the whole list, but I just went by what Czar Herb mentioned in his email.

I'm a long time but recently renewed member who's been down this road before. I've come to the consensus it should be strictly for entertainment purposes only, meaning if a bunch of members enjoy each others company & want to make a killer all day event out it there are opportunites out there to satsify everyones needs. Each year is diffenent as are the events leading up to & around it, its really hard to forecast into the future but I do know the Bay Area Mashtronauts, even in trying times, still put on a fun, festive show with plenty of food & great beer to go around. I'm guessing well in excess of 50% of the membership would have enjoyed partaking. Imagine a full bus load of KGB members descending on Seabrook @ once? I shutter to think of the consequences

I've been a KGB member since 1998 and I can say that I have attended more beer events by far then anyone else in the club. The question of attending venues like the Rendevous has come up a zillion times over the years. The bottom line is that there are numerous reasons why one joins a homebrew club. One is to attend and participate in such endevours. I will say I loved attending the events over the years and would not trade those memories away. But things happen and change over time.

In contrast took at the non-KGB members that have attended the BBBB over the years. I think you will find that there is a similiar situation that happens. Few members from other clubs turn out. Why??? Had to say but it is a fact.

The key is to enjoy and take part in the various aspects of homebrewing. There is something for everyone and if you watch closely you can find something everyweekend which is great (especially if you are single and don't have any other obligations).

I can go on on this subject for hours, so if you wish for more info ask me at a meeting.

CB Don
