Any interest in creating a cigar forum in The Gulag?

I recently bought a sampler from Famous Smoke Shop. This is <edit>THE FIRST</edit> of those that I've tried.

I don't have any experience talking about cigars, but I can say this: In my experience this is a strong cigar with lots of thick mouthfeel from the smoke. It leaves a green, slightly vegetal flavor in the mouth, and it'll make you (me) dizzy like I've never experienced from a cigar. I thought the draw was a bit too easy (what is the right term for that?), but I used the bigger punch to open the end and probably should've started with the smaller one.

Good enough for another? Yeah, I'd say so.

I smoked cigars for years, and I must say I have NEVER had a good experience with a maduro; too sickly sweet and way too strong. I'm more of a mild, "connecticut shade" kind of guy. That being said, I think the sampler packs are a great way to introduce yourself to the variety of what's out there.

Beware, however, the draw (that is the correct term for it, btw) can change between two sticks from the same box, and what might be a smooth experience for one person might end up being a puffing ordeal for another. So if you like the taste of one, don't count it out because the draw was a bit tight. They make special tools for that (www.centralchef.com/storefrontprofile...)

It's been about 3.5 years since I smoked anything, but I still have a few lying around. I'll round them up and bring them to the next meeting for you.

As turds go, that would be a pretty diminutive one in my book. Not sure what that says about both of us.

That link gives me a timeout error...maybe it'll work later.

Speaking of Connecticut Shade, I smoked a Macanudo Gold Label a few days ago and really enjoyed that one. I say I like maduro wrappers, but I don't have nearly enough variety of experience to know WTF I'm talking about. What I really like might have nothing to do with the wrapper. I need to pay more attention, which is why I posted here....to give myself some notes.
