I smoked cigars for years, and I must say I have NEVER had a good experience with a maduro; too sickly sweet and way too strong. I'm more of a mild, "connecticut shade" kind of guy. That being said, I think the sampler packs are a great way to introduce yourself to the variety of what's out there.
Beware, however, the draw (that is the correct term for it, btw) can change between two sticks from the same box, and what might be a smooth experience for one person might end up being a puffing ordeal for another. So if you like the taste of one, don't count it out because the draw was a bit tight. They make special tools for that (www.centralchef.com/storefrontprofile...)
It's been about 3.5 years since I smoked anything, but I still have a few lying around. I'll round them up and bring them to the next meeting for you.

That link gives me a timeout error...maybe it'll work later.
Speaking of Connecticut Shade, I smoked a Macanudo Gold Label a few days ago and really enjoyed that one. I say I like maduro wrappers, but I don't have nearly enough variety of experience to know WTF I'm talking about. What I really like might have nothing to do with the wrapper. I need to pay more attention, which is why I posted here....to give myself some notes.
